And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitehead dives in for a single leg takedown but Jeraldino sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Whitehead closes the distance and clinches up with Jeraldino, looking for a takedown. Whitehead pushes Jeraldino against the cage but Jeraldino circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Whitehead moves into range and clinches up with Jeraldino.

Whitehead is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jeraldino is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Whitehead to the mat. Whitehead regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Jeraldino tries to free his leg and advance position but Whitehead is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jeraldino lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Jeraldino throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Whitehead to regain full guard.
Jeraldino wants to pass the guard but Whitehead is keeping the position.

Whitehead got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jeraldino has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Whitehead has managed to get both his arms back between Jeraldino's legs - danger averted.
Jeraldino has his hands on Whitehead's head, controlling the position.
Whitehead throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jeraldino works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Whitehead throws a strike but Jeraldino rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jeraldino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Whitehead swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Whitehead wants to stand but Jeraldino is controlling the position.
Jeraldino passes into half guard.

It looks like Jeromy Whitehead has been cut.
Whitehead trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Jeraldino has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Whitehead's face.

Whitehead is rocked!
Jeraldino loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Whitehead scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Jeraldino land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Jeraldino stands and salutes the crowd.
