PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mai Pipi (ranked 3775 p4p, 326 weight class) and Thimothy Weenus (ranked 7049 p4p, 456 weight class). Thimothy Weenus will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mai Pipi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Thimothy Weenus!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pipi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Weenus tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pipi manages to move to mount!
Weenus looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Pipi is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Weenus has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Pipi is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Weenus has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Weenus!
Weenus throws a big elbow that misses.
Weenus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Weenus wants to stand but Pipi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pipi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Weenus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Weenus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pipi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Weenus defends well.

Weenus drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Weenus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Weenus trying to control the position from guard on top but Pipi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pipi working for a triangle but Weenus defends it easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Weenus wants to control from the top but Pipi keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pipi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Weenus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Weenus wanted to stand there but Pipi had control of the position.
Weenus trying to control but Pipi is working from the bottom.

Pipi working for submissions but it's allowed Weenus to get to half guard.
Pipi is breathing heavily.

Pipi looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pipi wants to improve his position but Weenus is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mai Pipi will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Pipi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pipi.

Pipi tries for a kimura but Weenus is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Weenus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weenus tries to bench press Pipi off him but Pipi keeps the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Weenus keeping his opponent close.

Weenus can't do much from the bottom here.
Weenus is trying to get back to half guard.
Weenus struggling a bit here.
Weenus is looking to regain half guard here but Pipi keeps moving and retains side control.
Weenus is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Pipi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pipi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Weenus is trying to control Pipi's posture but Pipi avoids it.

Pipi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Weenus is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Weenus regains half guard.

Weenus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pipi pulls his head out easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mai Pipi will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Pipi takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Weenus moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Mai Pipi has been cut.
Pipi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Pipi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Pipi gets the takedown into side control.

Weenus bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Weenus scores with a jab. Pipi acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Weenus throws a monster overhand right that drops Pipi! Weenus follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thimothy Weenus!
A victorious Thimothy Weenus thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
Mai Pipi spoke after the fight, saying 'I no hard'.
