The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gates darts in and clinches Bear up against the cage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gates is on top in guard.

Bear parries the strikes from Gates easily there. Gates is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bear to escape.

Bear is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gates's half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
