PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cornelius Rios (ranked 5157 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Kiser Jr (ranked 4633 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cornelius Rios!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bryan Kiser Jr!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiser Jr throws a sloppy head kick and Rios moves out of range easily.

Kiser Jr takes the fight into the clinch.

Kiser Jr lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rios wants to improve his position but Kiser Jr is controlling well.

Kiser Jr stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Rios to get to his feet.
Kiser Jr tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiser Jr clinches up with Rios and pushes him back against the cage.
Kiser Jr tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Rios has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kiser Jr regains guard immediately.
Kiser Jr wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rios manages to pass to side control.
Rios could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Rios thows a huge punch but Kiser Jr dodges it nicely.
Rios takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kiser Jr trying to control from the bottom.
Kiser Jr is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Rios jumps into side control!
Kiser Jr can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kiser Jr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rios wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kiser Jr wants to control but Rios postures up.
Rios controlling the position from side mount.

Kiser Jr can't do much from the bottom here.
Kiser Jr is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Rios is staying active.
Kiser Jr pushes Rios away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rios gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kiser Jr moves into the clinch.

Kiser Jr turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kiser Jr manages to end up in side control.
Rios tries to bench press Kiser Jr off him but Kiser Jr keeps the position.

Kiser Jr looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rios is avoiding damage well.
Kiser Jr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rios keeps working.
Kiser Jr throwing strikes but Rios manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rios controls the position from side control.
Kiser Jr is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Rios asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cornelius Rios will probably get the nod.
That's time! Rios's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kiser Jr tries a head kick but it misses.
Kiser Jr tried to score with a low kick but Rios checks it.
Kiser Jr scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Cornelius Rios has been cut.
Kiser Jr tries to work over Rios's front leg with a kick but Rios checks it.
Rios went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Kiser Jr forces Rios back against the cage and clinches.
Rios jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kiser Jr walks away with a smile on his face. Rios gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rios misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Kiser Jr shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rios is refusing to be controlled, as Kiser Jr sits in half guard.

Rios is trying to stand back up but Kiser Jr is controlling him

Kiser Jr is looking for a kimura but Rios is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kiser Jr to get the leverage.

Rios is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kiser Jr is controlling him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rios trying to control here.
Kiser Jr tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Rios.
Rios gets full guard.
Rios tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Rios is working an open guard so Kiser Jr takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kiser Jr misses with a body kick.
A quick step to the side and Rios tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kiser Jr throws a front kick that sends Rios stumbling back into the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rios takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Kiser Jr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kiser Jr wants the takedown. Rios is fighting it off but Kiser Jr persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Rios's guard against the cage.

Kiser Jr gets to his feet - Rios follows without any prompting.
Bryan Kiser Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kiser Jr scores with a takedown into Rios's guard.
Rios is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kiser Jr dives into side control.
Kiser Jr is breathing heavily.


Kiser Jr decides to take the fight back to the feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rios is looking for a sweep. Kiser Jr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kiser Jr wants to control but Rios is keeping him busy.

Bryan Kiser Jr showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Rios gets tackled into the cage by Kiser Jr. Kiser Jr maintains the clinch.
Rios blocks a body shot from Kiser Jr.

Rios jumps into guard, dragging Kiser Jr to the mat.
Kiser Jr looking to sit in guard and control but Rios gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rios is working Kiser Jr over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Kiser Jr trying to keep a closed guard but Rios is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kiser Jr is looking to stand up but Rios isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Rios counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Kiser Jr fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rios, pushing him back against the cage.
Kiser Jr tries to break the clinch but Rios is controlling the position.
Kiser Jr misses with a punch on the inside.

Kiser Jr drags the fight down to the ground.
Kiser Jr wants to sweep but no luck.
Kiser Jr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rios stops Kiser Jr from standing up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rios stands up over Kiser Jr, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kiser Jr wants to stand up but Rios is controlling him.

Kiser Jr throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rios escapes and throws Kiser Jr's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Rios takes a little break here. Kiser Jr wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Cornelius Rios showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rios has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
