CACC 21 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Connor Mac Burns (ranked 3432 p4p, 419 weight class) and Rafael Cortez (ranked 11455 p4p, 595 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Burns might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to . Cortez has chosen Wake Me Up as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Connor Mac Burns! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 2 losses; Rafael Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Cortez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Cortez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Burns gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cortez.
Cortez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Burns is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Cortez can't get the takedown.
Connor Mac Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Cortez.

Burns is trying to trip Cortez. He has hold of a leg but Cortez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Burns persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Burns drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cortez manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Burns has Cortez in his guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Burns tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Burns has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Burns is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cortez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Cortez has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Burns to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Cortez is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Burns pulls down on the head and he's put Cortez to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 9:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Connor Mac Burns!
In his post fight interview, Connor Mac Burns started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
