Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jacinto Sloan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Ribeiro!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ribeiro feints and as Sloan raises his hands in defense, Ribeiro changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ribeiro has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sloan is proving hard to escape from.
Sloan trying to control the position.

Sloan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ribeiro gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sloan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ribeiro controls the pace.
Sloan seems keen to control Ribeiro's posture.
Ribeiro seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sloan pulls Ribeiro in to control the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sloan pulls Ribeiro in close to prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sloan tries to clinch up.

Ribeiro closes the distance and clinches.
Sloan tries to pull guard but Ribeiro forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Ribeiro prevents a body shot from Sloan.

Ribeiro gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Sloan regains guard.

Sloan has his feet on Ribeiro's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Bruno Ribeiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ribeiro clinches with his opponent.
Sloan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ribeiro stalling in the clinch.
Sloan tries to land knees in the clinch but Ribeiro avoids the damage to the body.
Sloan fails to pull guard.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Sloan swings wildly with an uppercut but Ribeiro uses good head movement to avoid it.

Sloan tries to pull guard but Ribeiro holds him up against the cage and eventually Sloan drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacinto Sloan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sloan tries to work over Ribeiro's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Sloan has a couple of punches blocked by Ribeiro.

Sloan pulls Ribeiro into guard.
Ribeiro is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ribeiro working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Ribeiro is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ribeiro's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Ribeiro postures up in Sloan's guard and throws a big left but Sloan blocks it.
Sloan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ribeiro is one step ahead there.
Ribeiro wants to get up but he can't break Sloan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ribeiro postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ribeiro wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Ribeiro has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ribeiro has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sloan is trying to keep an underhook but Ribeiro manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Sloan has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ribeiro is on him like a limpet, forcing Sloan back against the cage.
Sloan is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ribeiro to keep the fight standing.

Sloan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sloan is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ribeiro has managed to clinch.
Sloan struggles to land a body shot inside as Ribeiro controls his hands.
Ribeiro lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sloan backwards.

Ribeiro gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Sloan is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Ribeiro presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Sloan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ribeiro just stands there and leans against the cage.
Sloan tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Sloan tries to work over Ribeiro's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Ribeiro blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Ribeiro gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Sloan has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ribeiro is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacinto Sloan will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Ribeiro darts in and clinches Sloan up against the cage.

Sloan is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ribeiro is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sloan to the mat. Sloan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Sloan is wriggling around but Ribeiro manages to pass to half guard.

Ribeiro looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Sloan is looking to control Ribeiro's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sloan avoid being mounted?
Sloan is looking to improve his position.
Sloan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Still in half guard, Ribeiro seems content to control.
Ribeiro wants to take a breather but Sloan is having none of it.
Sloan is trying to maintain the position but Ribeiro is very close to passing his half guard.
Ribeiro is controlling the pace.

Sloan wants to control but Ribeiro is keeping busy.
Ribeiro is nestled in close to Sloan, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ribeiro is stalling in the full guard.
Sloan has a closed guard, preventing Ribeiro from standing up.
Ribeiro sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sloan's guard.
Ribeiro wants to control but Sloan is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Ribeiro moves into the clinch.

Sloan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ribeiro swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sloan throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Ribeiro counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ribeiro.
Sloan pulls Ribeiro in to control the position.
Ribeiro is pushing down on Sloan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sloan is fighting to maintain full guard but Ribeiro has managed to sneak the leg through.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ribeiro is looking to take a break and control but Sloan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sloan is controlling Ribeiro's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Ribeiro thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ribeiro lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Ribeiro thows a huge punch but Sloan dodges it nicely.

Ribeiro tries to stand and escape but Sloan is controlling the position.
Sloan keeping hold of Ribeiro's head, controlling as best he can.
Ribeiro wants to stand but Sloan has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
More stalling from Ribeiro.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ribeiro is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sloan sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruno Ribeiro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Sloan shoots for a takedown but Ribeiro saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Ribeiro scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Sloan sneaks out the side door and pushes Ribeiro away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Sloan shoots in and bounces Ribeiro off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sloan throwing strikes from guard but Ribeiro blocks nicely.
Sloan won't allow Ribeiro to sweep him here.

Ribeiro is looking to cinch up a triangle. Sloan throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ribeiro's body to avoid the submission. Ribeiro has instead reached around Sloan's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ribeiro arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
