The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Goodwin went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Gracie fails to land the takedown.
Goodwin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Gracie has his foot on Goodwin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Goodwin works his way back into a safe position though.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Goodwin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie is working an open guard so Goodwin takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rodolfo Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gracie dives in for a single leg takedown but Goodwin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Goodwin defends it nicely.
Goodwin changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Goodwin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Goodwin feints and as Gracie raises his hands in defense, Goodwin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gracie isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Goodwin stacks Gracie on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Goodwin!

Gracie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Goodwin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
