PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mauro Soldic (ranked 2971 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ahohako Mihakano (ranked 3519 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Mihakano's choice of entrance music: No Effect. Ahohako Mihakano will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mauro Soldic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ahohako Mihakano!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mihakano changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Soldic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mihakano swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Soldic postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mihakano is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Soldic, into his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ahohako Mihakano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Soldic manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Mihakano looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Soldic is staying active underneath Mihakano, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soldic is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mihakano's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mihakano's back!

That was a close second round but I would say that Mauro Soldic will probably get the nod.

Mihakano is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Soldic.

I would just about give that final round to Ahohako Mihakano.
Well Mihakano has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
