The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giovinazzi tries for a takedown but Escobar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Escobar!
Giovinazzi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Escobar pinned against the cage. Escobar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Escobar throws a left that rocks Giovinazzi and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Escobar dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Giovinazzi regain composure!

Giovinazzi is rocked!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Giovinazzi darts in looking for a takedown but Escobar gets double underhooks and turns Giovinazzi into the cage.
Juan Carlos Escobar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marchiano Giovinazzi.
Escobar cracks Giovinazzi's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Giovinazzi slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Escobar can do further damage! This one is done, son!
