Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mohammed Al Haddad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Dettman!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Al Haddad clinches up against the cage.

Dettman breaks from the clinch.
Dettman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Al Haddad moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Dettman looks to land a left hand but Al Haddad moved out of range nicely.
Al Haddad fails with the takedown.
Dettman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
The fight stays on the outside here - Al Haddad looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Al Haddad throws a sloppy head kick and Dettman moves out of range easily.
Dettman lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Dettman lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Al Haddad backs up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Al Haddad moves into range and clinches up with Dettman.

Al Haddad decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dettman, up you get!

No joy there for Dettman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Al Haddad drops down looking for a counter takedown but Dettman sprawls and moves away.

Al Haddad shoots in and bounces Dettman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Dettman has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Al Haddad has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Al Haddad is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dettman wants to stand up but Al Haddad is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Al Haddad drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Al Haddad jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dettman wants to stand and escape but Al Haddad is having none of it.

Al Haddad drops back looking for a leg! Dettman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dettman manages to kick Al Haddad off! Al Haddad jumps back into Dettman's guard.

Al Haddad pushes down on Dettman's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Dettman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Al Haddad. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Al Haddad wants to work for an arm triangle but Dettman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Dettman has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Al Haddad is on him like a limpet, forcing Dettman back against the cage.

A lazy left from Dettman finds it's target.
Dettman moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Dettman looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Al Haddad jumps guard and drags Dettman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Al Haddad wants to stand and escape but Dettman is having none of it.

Al Haddad has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Dettman is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dettman lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Al Haddad circles away quickly and effectively.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mohammed Al Haddad will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dettman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Al Haddad drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Al Haddad as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Dettman screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Al Haddad! Nice submission victory there!
