PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ieata Lotapewp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordon Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gordon Thomas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ieata Lotapewp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gordon Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lotapewp circles away quickly and effectively.
Lotapewp swings for the body but Thomas moves out of range.
Thomas shoots for a takedown but Lotapewp saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Horrible takedown by Lotapewp or perhaps it was just good defense by Thomas which made him look bad.
Nice takedown defense from Lotapewp. No joy for Thomas on that attempt.
A big right from Thomas misses.
Thomas fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ieata Lotapewp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gordon Thomas.
Lotapewp looks to land a right hand but Thomas moved out of range.

Thomas tries to score a body lock takedown but Lotapewp shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Lotapewp is pushing down on Thomas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Thomas is fighting to maintain full guard but Lotapewp has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lotapewp is taking a breather. Thomas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Thomas is trying to maintain the position but Lotapewp is very close to passing his half guard.

Lotapewp seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thomas for as long as he can get away with.

Lotapewp seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thomas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Lotapewp looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ieata Lotapewp just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Lotapewp paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Thomas drops his hands momentarily and Lotapewp takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Lotapewp attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Lotapewp connects with a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lotapewp throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Thomas sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lotapewp swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lotapewp lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Lotapewp takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lotapewp tries to clinch there but Thomas circles away.
Lotapewp connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Thomas avoids a punch combination nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lotapewp bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Thomas tries to buck Lotapewp off but Lotapewp is having none of it.
Lotapewp wants to control but Thomas is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ieata Lotapewp dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Thomas has Lotapewp pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Thomas pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lotapewp tumbling to the mat - Thomas dives into Lotapewp's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thomas can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Thomas tries to lock up and control but Lotapewp gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lotapewp lands a big shot there that rocks Thomas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Lotapewp has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lotapewp. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

and Lotapewp counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Lotapewp might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Thomas is looking to work some ground and pound but Lotapewp has wrist control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lotapewp shoots for a double leg takedown but Thomas sprawls well. He's pushed Lotapewp's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lotapewp is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Thomas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Thomas's back!

Thomas is trying to stand back up.

Lotapewp looking to break Thomas's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Thomas remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Lotapewp will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Lotapewp has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Thomas's body.

Thomas is trying to defend against the choke here but Lotapewp has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Lotapewp Tightens the hold and Thomas taps out furiously! Lotapewp displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ieata Lotapewp!
