Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yka Sonni (ranked 3869 p4p, 438 weight class) and Vladamir Emelianenko (ranked 23122 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Vladamir Emelianenko was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yka Sonni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladamir Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonni throws out a loose jab but Emelianenko uses good head movement to avoid it.
Emelianenko unleashes a big counter combination but Sonni bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Sonni just misses with a punch to the body.
Sonni looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Sonni throws a hook but Emelianenko blocks it.
Emelianenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sonni throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sonni smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Emelianenko throws a series of punches but Sonni avoids them all with ease.
Emelianenko throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sonni was covering up waiting for the punch and Emelianenko finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sonni looking for a guillotine here but Emelianenko defends easily.
Emelianenko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Emelianenko forces his way into half guard.
Emelianenko is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sonni is just riding it out for now. Emelianenko eventually gives up the hold.
Sonni looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Sonni tries to roll over but Emelianenko keeps him under control.
Emelianenko stalling away here and it's allowed Sonni to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Emelianenko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Emelianenko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Emelianenko throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Sonni keeps moving.
Sonni is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Emelianenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sonni swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sonni has his hands on Emelianenko's head, controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Emelianenko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Emelianenko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nice jab there from Sonni.
Sonni slaps away a takedown attempt from Emelianenko, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sonni throwing a counter right hand but Emelianenko manages to avoid it.
Sonni connects with a good right hand that stumbles Emelianenko. Emelianenko circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
It looks like Vladamir Emelianenko has been cut.
Sonni lands a right hook to the body.
Emelianenko looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Emelianenko misses with a series of wild punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sonni throws an overhand right that lands on Emelianenko's shoulder, as Emelianenko tries to avoid the shot.
Sonni looks to throw the jab but Emelianenko is out of range.
Emelianenko dives in for a single leg takedown but Sonni sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Sonni was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sonni connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Emelianenko dodges the punch combination from Sonni.
Sonni lands a hook that stumbles Emelianenko back into the cage. Sonni follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Emelianenko to the canvas! Sonni pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Emelianenko has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Yka Sonni!
