The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garvin gets caught flat footed, as Maeda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Garvin is looking for a triangle but Maeda pushes his legs off easily.

Garvin has an active guard here but Maeda has managed to pass into half guard.
Maeda tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Garvin.
Maeda working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maeda would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Maeda is nestled in close to Garvin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Maeda is sitting in close to Garvin's body. Garvin has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Maeda is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Maeda is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Garvin.
