Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Nash!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nash shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silva as he avoids it easily.
Silva throws out a leg kick but Nash moves out of range and Silva only half commits.

Nash drives through with a takedown into guard.

Silva has an active guard here but Nash has managed to pass into half guard.

Silva is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Nash pulls his head out easily.

Nash drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Nash off! Nash jumps back into Silva's guard.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Nash pushes his legs off easily.
Nash with a flurry of punches that miss.
Nash trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Silva looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Nash passes into side control.
The referee asks Nash politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Nash prefers to stall for the moment though.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Nash's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Silvais looking to pass into half guard but Nash pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Nash is in guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nash looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nash has escaped the position, nice work there.
Nash is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Silva off and has taken his back!
Silva tries to roll but Nash sticks to his back.
Silva breaks Nash's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Silva works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Nash wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.
Nash is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nash sees it coming and defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Silva will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nash misses with a takedown attempt

and Silva counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nash!
Nash is trying desperately to improve position.

Silva moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nash has worked his arm free - good work by Nash!

You can see the frustration on Nash's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Silva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nash is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Nash doesn't have the hooks in and Silva manages to turn into his guard.

Silva is looking to advance position but Nash has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Nash is working for a guillotine from mount but Silva frees his head quite easily.
Silva is trying desperately to improve position.

Silva is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Nash locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Silva is forced to tap!
