PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Geraths (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sacha Makharov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Geraths comes to the cage accompanied by Know your Enemy. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makharov throws a hook but Geraths blocks it.
A combination from Geraths does no damage.
Makharov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Geraths moves away.
Geraths throws a right hand that Makharov ducks under and follows up with a left that Makharov also avoids with ease.
Makharov takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Geraths throws a nice looking combination but Makharov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Geraths lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Makharov fails to land with a series of punches.
Makharov misses with a body shot.
Geraths dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Geraths closes the distance and clinches up with Makharov, looking for a takedown. Geraths pushes Makharov against the cage but Makharov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Geraths controls Makharov momentarily but Makharov frees himself.

Geraths working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Makharov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Makharov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Makharov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Makharov wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Geraths's closed guard. He's half up but Geraths has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Geraths pivots and extends the arm, Makharov falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Geraths! Well done that man!
