Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Blake Jones (ranked 4483 p4p, 447 weight class) and Michael Matthews (ranked 4182 p4p, 429 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Blake Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews misses the shot to the body.
Jones with a poor takedown
and Matthews cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Matthews scores with a body shot.
We've been hearing reports that Jones has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Jones dives in and grabs Matthews's left leg, looking for a takedown. Matthews pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Matthews with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Matthews cracks Jones with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Matthews lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Matthews counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Matthews lands with a good body shot.
Matthews cracks Jones with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Jones tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Matthews pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Jones is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Matthews!
Blake Jones was interviewed post fight and said 'I faced a great fighter and lost. It happens, but I will go home, train harder, and come back stronger to put on another show for all these fans!!'.
