Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emyr Lane (ranked 3681 p4p, 398 weight class) and Eric Smith (ranked 3915 p4p, 414 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Emyr Lane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Smith!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lane smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Smith blocks a head kick by Lane.
A low kick from Smith is predictable there
and Lane counters with a left to the body.
Smith shoots and misses
and Lane counters with a nice uppercut.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Smith.
Lane can't do much from the bottom here.
Lane manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Lane is trying to stand.
Lane keeping hold of Smith's head, controlling as best he can.
Lane gets full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lane throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Lane is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lane working a defensive guard here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Smith being controlled here momentarily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith scores with a takedown into Lane's guard.

Lane scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Lane lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Smith at a distance.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Eric Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lane sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Emyr Lane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Smith.
Lane jabs at Smith's body.
Lane throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Smith stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Lane definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Smith closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Lane throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lane sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
Smith looks winded!
Lane is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Smith looks to land a right hand but Lane moved out of range.
Smith takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Smith fails with a takedown attempt.
Lane feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smiths jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smith tries to bum rush Lane with a series of wild strikes but Lane uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Smith throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lane counters with a nice uppercut.
Nice straight punches there by Lane. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lane.
Lane scores with a jab to the head.
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lane pinned against the cage. Lane gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lane throws out a powerful jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith misses with a hook. Lane ducked under it nicely.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Smith swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Lane counters with a nice uppercut.
Lane punishes Smith's body with a nice straight punch.
Smith takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Lane wants to slow Smith down by chopping away at his legs.
Lane tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lane feints a jab promting Smith to slip. Lane then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Smith slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Lane bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Smith takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Lane fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Smith is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Lane moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Emyr Lane!
