PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stone Crown (ranked 4857 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gorg Sakaflias (ranked 4595 p4p, 0 weight class). Gorg Sakaflias told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakaflias lands a head kick!

It looks like Stone Crown has been cut.
Crown lands a head shot.
Sakaflias turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Crown stops a takedown attempt from Sakaflias.
Crown lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sakaflias backwards.
Crown could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Crown stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Crown tries to throw a body punch but Sakaflias avoids it by throwing Crown back against the cage.

Sakaflias escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crown lands a left and a right that send Sakaflias crashing to the mat, dazed. Crown thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Gorg Sakaflias has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fight stays on the outside here - Crown looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Crown tries to keep at a distance but Sakaflias has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sakaflias pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sakaflias takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Crown looks to land a combination but Sakaflias avoids it well.
Crown fails with an attempt to clinch.
And Sakaflias tries to counter it with a takedown but Crown pushes his down on his head and steps out.
A low kick from Sakaflias is predictable there

and Crown counters with a nice right hand that sends Sakaflias toppling to the canvas! Sakaflias scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Crown finish him?!

Sakaflias is rocked!

Crown moves into range and clinches up with Sakaflias.
Sakaflias is still on wobbly legs! Can Crown finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sakaflias is trying to force a seperation but Crown has the dominant position.
Sakaflias seems to have recovered his senses.

Sakaflias breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Crown tries to clinch up but Sakaflias circles away and keeps his distance.
Crown misses with a few strikes there.
Sakaflias looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Sakaflias tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Crown defends well and Sakaflias ends up having to push Crown into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Sakaflias clinches up against the cage.

Crown breaks the clinch.

Sakaflias gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Crown looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Crown lands a body punch.
Crown lands with a right to the head.

Crown tries to throw a body punch but Sakaflias avoids it by throwing Crown back against the cage.
Crown prevents the takedown attempt.
Stone Crown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gorg Sakaflias.

Crown tries to throw a body punch but Sakaflias avoids it by throwing Crown back against the cage.

Crown escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Crown pushes Sakaflias back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Crown lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Crown lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Crown doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Sakaflias goes for a takedown in the clinch but Crown prevents it.

Crown misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Sakaflias tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Sakaflias's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Crown scores with a hook.

Crown closes the distance and pushes Sakaflias back into the cage.
Crown scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Sakaflias tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Crown smiles and moves away.
Gorg Sakaflias seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crown cracks Sakaflias on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Sakaflias falls backwards against the cage. Crown follows up with more strikes that drop Sakaflias to his knees. Crown keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Sakaflias! This one is all over!
