Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeronimo Barcelos (ranked 4305 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Miles (ranked 6514 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonathan Miles has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonathan Miles!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miles gets a clinch.
Barcelos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Barcelos trying to stall but Miles improves his position.
Miles is trying to break the clinch but Barcelos is controlling him.
Barcelos swings wildly with an uppercut but Miles uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barcelos wants to break the clinch but can't.
Miles trying to land knees to the body.
Barcelos misses with a hook to the ribs.

Barcelos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Barcelos gets tackled into the cage by Miles. Miles maintains the clinch.

Barcelos keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Miles's efforts to push away.

Barcelos is fighting off a takedown attempt but Miles is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Barcelos to the mat. Barcelos regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miles slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Miles closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Barcelos to the mat! Barcelos manages to get full guard.

Miles scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Barcelos wants to stand up but Miles is controlling him.
Miles controls from within his opponent's guard.
Miles throwing strikes but missing.
Miles slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Barcelos is looking to stand up but Miles isn't so interested in that idea.

Let's hope that Miles has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Miles bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Miles is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Barcelos's shoulder. That is not cool.

Miles working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Miles decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Miles throws a right and a left that Barcelos avoids nicely.

and Miles decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barcelos's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Miles is stalling in the full guard.
Barcelos wants to stand but Miles is controlling the position.

Miles stands and steps away. Barcelos gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
No joy there for Miles, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Miles shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Miles was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Barcelos wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Barcelos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Barcelos wants to break free but Miles has control.
Barcelos has had enough of the clinch but Miles keeps him there for the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barcelos is fighting off a takedown attempt but Miles is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Barcelos to the mat. Barcelos regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Miles decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barcelos, up you get!

and Miles counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Barcelos throws a sloppy head kick and Miles moves out of range easily.
Barcelos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barcelos wants it to stay on the feet.
Miles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Miles shoots for a takedown but Barcelos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Barcelos is looking to counter with head kicks.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miles can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Miles moves into the clinch.
Barcelos is pressed up against the cage. Miles has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barcelos down to the mat. Barcelos avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A head kick misses from Barcelos.

Miles shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barcelos's guard.

Miles with a flurry of punches that miss.

Miles drops back looking for a leg! Barcelos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Barcelos manages to kick Miles off! Miles jumps back into Barcelos's guard.
Barcelos wants to get back to his feet but Miles is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Miles has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Miles wants to pass the guard but Barcelos is keeping the position.

Miles gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Miles manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Miles manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Miles is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
