The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bitnis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
miners drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bitnis pulls his leg out and moves away.

Bitnis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bitnis trying to control from half guard but miners is working away.
Bitnis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Bitnis is working for a submission of some sort.
Bitnis thows a huge punch but miners dodges it nicely.

Bitnis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bitnis missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bitnis moves into full mount! miners won't be happy about that!
Bitnis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bitnis connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Bitnis throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Bitnis with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Bitnis scores with a couple of good head shots there.
miners is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bitnis misses with a head shot.
Bitnis throws some wild stikes that miners manages to avoid easily.
Bitnis throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Bitnis has hold of miners's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and miners manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Bitnis moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, miners has worked his arm free - good work by miners!
Bitnis is breathing heavily.

The ground and pound from Bitnis seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Bitnis is trying to get an arm triangle but miners is defending well.
miners is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Bitnis throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bitnis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, miners has escaped the position, nice work there.

Bitnis tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Bitnis throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
miners dodges the ground and pound from Bitnis.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bitnis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bitnis ducks under a wild hook from miners.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bitnis shoots in but miners avoids the takedown attempt easily.
John Bitnis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bitnis misses with a low kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
miners wants to clinch but Bitnis slips to the side
and Bitnis counters with a nice body shot.
Bitnis loads up on a big right hand but miners slips the punch.

and Bitnis counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
miners is breathing heavily.

Bitnis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and miners defends it well.
Bitnis throwing shots but miners is blocking nicely.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bitnis connects with a nice short shot to miners's temple.
Bitnis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bitnis moves nicely into side control.

Bitnis passes to full mount! That's big trouble for miners!

Bitnis looking to secure an arm triangle but miners defends it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
miners takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Bitnis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Bitnis is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Bitnis!
