The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Samir will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Penn seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Samir lands a head shot.
Samir misses with a wild combination.
Penn goes for a double leg but Samir avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Samir continues to drive forward.
Penn could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Samir bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Penn's head.
Penn takes a jab right on the kisser.
Samir stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Samir wants it to stay on the feet.

Samir throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Samir stalks Penn and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Penn's face. Penn staggers backwards, shaken.
Samir lands with a hook. Penn tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Penn tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Samir defends well and Penn ends up having to push Samir into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Samir is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Penn moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Penn drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Penn walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Penn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Samir sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Penn closes the distance and clinches up with Samir, looking for a takedown. Penn pushes Samir against the cage but Samir circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Penn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Samir but Samir pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Samir throws a series of strikes that have Penn backpedaling.
Samir has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Penn shoots in for a takedown but Samir shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Samir feints a jab promting Penn to slip. Samir then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Penn slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Samir lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The fighters circle momentarily. Samir darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Samir throws a nice looking combination but Penn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Samir looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Penn throws an overhand right that lands on Samir's shoulder, as Samir tries to avoid the shot.
Penn clinches with his opponent.
Samir lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Penn is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Samir pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Penn throws a sloppy head kick and Samir moves out of range easily.
Penn gets a clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Penn throws an elbow but misses.
Penn wants a takedown but no success here.
Penn tries to pull guard but Samir holds him up against the cage and eventually Penn drops back down to his feet.
Samir pushes Penn back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Penn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Samir walks away with a smile on his face. Penn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Samir misses with the combination.
Samir cracks Penn with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Samir looks to land a combination. Penn sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Samir is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Penn had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Penn needs to keep his hands up - Samir had a free shot at his head there.
No joy there for Penn, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Samir throws a right and a left that both miss.
Penn looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Penn pushes Samir up against the cage in a clinch.
Penn jumps guard but Samir turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Samir gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Penn.
Samir breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mohammed Samir dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Penn takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Penn has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Penn takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Samir swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Penn is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Samir's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Samir tests Penn's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Samir stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Samir's corner calls for a 1-2. Samir obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Samir connects with a good right hand that stumbles Penn. Penn circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Penn dives in and grabs Samir's left leg, looking for a takedown. Samir pushes down on Penn's head and hops out.

Penn closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Samir's guard.
Penn works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Penn seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Samir does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Penn is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Samir is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
