Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Georges Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Faria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faria has chosen Quiribamba as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Georges Rocha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Faria!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rocha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Faria sprawls well initially but Rocha persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Faria is trying to get back to full guard.
Faria is concentrating on defense, preventing Rocha from advancing position.

Faria looking for submissions off his back.
Faria wants to control but Rocha passes into side.
Rocha wants to stand but Faria has his arm trapped.
Faria tries to improve position but can't.
Faria manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Faria wants to improve his position but Rocha is controlling well.
Faria is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Still in half guard, Rocha seems content to control.
Faria is trying to get back to full guard.
Faria trying to control but Rocha postures up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rocha connects with a nice short shot to Faria's temple.

Faria looks gassed!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Faria throws a head kick that misses.

Rocha rushes Faria and presses him up against the cage.
Rocha unloads a knee to the mid-section. Faria lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Rocha stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Rocha has Faria pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rocha pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Faria tumbling to the mat - Rocha dives into Faria's guard.
Rocha controls from within his opponent's guard.
Rocha wants to stand but Faria has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Rocha postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Faria is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rocha stays in close to Faria's body and controls the position.
Rocha has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Rocha knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Faria on the ground.
Faria might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rocha kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rocha perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Rocha tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Faria trying to hold on to Rocha's head to control him but Rocha postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Faria wants to hit a switch here but Rocha passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Faria there!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Faria keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Faria is desperately trying to improve his position but Rocha has a good base and remains in mount.

Rocha controlling his opponent.
Faria is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rocha tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Faria is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Faria wants to control but Rocha is having none of it.
Rocha controlling from the full mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Georges Rocha just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Rocha forces Faria back against the cage and clinches.
Faria tries to score a body lock takedown but Rocha shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Faria changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rocha fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Georges Rocha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Faria.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Rocha scores a nice knee to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Georges Rocha dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Rocha escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rocha clinches up with Faria and pushes him back against the cage.

Rocha moves in looking to clinch but Faria pushes him off.
No joy there for Faria, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rocha feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Faria's calf.

Rocha clinches up against the cage.
Faria goes for a takedown attempt but Rocha pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Georges Rocha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felipe Faria.
Rocha throws a leg kick which misses Faria's front leg but catches the back leg as Faria tries to avoid it.

Faria gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rocha lands a couple of elbows.

Rocha sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Faria's guard.

Georges Rocha is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A telegraphed right hand from Rocha misses the target.
Faria will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rocha takes the fight into the clinch.
Faria is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rocha pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Rocha manages to break the clinch.
Faria gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Rocha counters with a single leg into guard. Faria didn't expect that.

Faria had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rocha is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Faria Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rocha's back instead.

Faria goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Rocha escapes and is now in half guard on top.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Faria tries to roll over but Rocha keeps him under control.
Rocha tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Faria.
Georges Rocha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Faria preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Faria is looking to control Rocha's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Faria avoid being mounted?

And that's the end of the fight!
Georges Rocha showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rocha has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
