PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Mario Zambrana (ranked 6449 p4p, 511 weight class) and Karol Tarczynski (ranked 3014 p4p, 345 weight class). Zambrana comes to the ring accompanied by Impact is Imminent. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Zambrana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 55 - 29 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karol Tarczynski!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zambrana throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Zambrana bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Tarczynski's head backwards.

Zambrana lands the left hand.
Zambrana with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Nice defenses there by Tarczynski.
Tarczynski throws a looping overhand right but Zambrana ducks down to avoid it.
Zambrana feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tarczynskis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Zambrana works Tarczynski's body with a nice hook.
Tarczynski shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tarczynski attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Zambrana misses with a looping left.
Zambrana bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Tarczynski's head backwards.


It looks like Karol Tarczynski has been cut.
Tarczynski takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Zambrana avoids the head kick by Tarczynski.

Tarczynski motions for Zambrana to come forward. Tarczynski throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Zambrana lands a head kick that bluckles Tarczynski and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Zambrana no doubt looking to push for a finish!
Mario Zambrana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheers as Zambrana lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tarczynski doesn't seem phased though.
Tarczynski misses the shot to the body.
Zambrana throws a sloppy head kick and Tarczynski moves out of range easily.
Zambrana wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Zambrana fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Zambrana throws a series of punches but Tarczynski avoids them all with ease.
Zambrana thuds a left hand into Tarczynski's body.
Tarczynski drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Zambrana works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Tarczynski takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Tarczynski wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Tarczynski ducks right into an uppercut from Zambrana.

Zambrana blocks a head kick by Tarczynski.
Tarczynski misses with an uppercut.

Tarczynski takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

That has opened up Karol Tarczynski's cut even more.

Zambrana is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Zambrana scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tarczynski doesn't seem bothered though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Tarczynski looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Zambrana throws a body shot but no joy.
Zambrana cracks Tarczynski with a good jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for Zambrana.

Tarczynski throws a wild body kick that Zambrana sees coming a mile off.
A decent looking cross lands there for Zambrana.
Tarczynski swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Zambrana counter with a right hand.
Tarczynski is still on wobbly legs! Can Zambrana finish him?
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Zambrana here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zambrana throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tarczynski seems to have recovered his senses.
Tarczynski is breathing heavily.
Tarczynski doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Zambrana comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Tarczynski throws a sloppy body shot
and Zambrana counters with a stiff right hand.

Tarczynski on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Zambrana throws a quick inside leg kick.
Tarczynski walks into a jab.

Zambrana thuds a left hand into Tarczynski's body.
Zambrana scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tarczynski doesn't seem bothered though.
Zambrana feints and then cracks Tarczynski's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tarczynski down.

Tarczynski takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Zambrana moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've been informed that Tarczynski has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zambrana lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.


The cut above Karol Tarczynski's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Zambrana ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Tarczynski has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Zambrana.

Zambrana scores with a jab and follows up with an uppercut that drops Tarczynski to his knees! He bounces straight back to his feet but is forced to take the mandatory standing 8 count before he's allowed to continue. We're back under way and the fighters meet in the middle of the canvas to re-engage.

Zambrana is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tarczynski can do to turn this around?

Karol Tarczynski's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Mario Zambrana is winning the standup battle so far.
Zambrana connects with a quick right hand that sends Tarczynski tumbling backwards onto the canvas! As his head bounces into the ropes, it doesn't look good for him beating the count! 3,4,5,6,7 and he's up! No, he's back down again! This one is all over - the referee has called off the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Mario Zambrana!
A pretty intense looking Mario Zambrana took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
