PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Love Me Sexy. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moon fails to land the takedown.

Moon gets the takedown into side control.
Mir tries to improve position but can't.
Mir wants to control but Moon postures up.
Mir tries to buck Moon off but Moon is having none of it.
Moon cracks Mir with a big right hand but Mir just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The ground and pound from Moon seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Moon wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mir, who protects the arm well.
Mir is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mir makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mir.

Mir has his foot on Moon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moon works his way back into a safe position though.

Mir had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Moon is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mir Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Moon's back instead.

Mir is trying to stick to Moon's back but Moon is turning into Mir. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mir's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Moon.
Moon throws a strike but Mir rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mir drops back looking for a leg! Moon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Moon manages to kick Mir off! Mir jumps back into Moon's guard.

Moon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Moon has his foot on Mir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mir works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mir drops back looking for a leg! Moon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Moon manages to kick Mir off! Mir jumps back into Moon's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mir avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Mir will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Moon misses with a takedown attempt - Mir sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
