Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kieran Cronin (ranked 24756 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trenton Powell (ranked 4749 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kieran Cronin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trenton Powell!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cronin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Powell circles away.
Powell steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Cronin.

Powell scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cronin tries to kick Powell off in order to stand up. Powell Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Cronin wants to control but Powell postures up.
Powell misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Powell tries to advance to mount but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cronin on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cronin wants to control but Powell postures up.
Powell cracks Cronin with a big right hand but Cronin just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Powell gets to mount! Cronin was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Cronin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cronin tries to get out of the position.

Powell jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cronin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cronin and Powell has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Powell tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cronin's legs.

Cronin is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Powell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cronin keeps working.
Powell tries to stand but Cronin controls the position and pulls Powell into his guard.
Cronin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Powell should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Powell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cronin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Powell is aware though and is defending well.

Powell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cronin is proving hard to escape from.
Powell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cronin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Cronin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Cronin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cronin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Powell throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Cronin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Powell's head.
Powell is adopting a defensive guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cronin trying to control the position from guard on top but Powell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A close round but Trenton Powell will probably get the nod.
That's time! Cronin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cronin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Powell gets a takedown into half guard.
Powell looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Powell seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Cronin pulls Powell in close to prevent any damage.
Cronin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Cronin is looking for a triangle but Powell pushes his legs off easily.
Cronin doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cronin keeping moving, preventing Powell from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Powell drives through with a takedown into Cronin's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Cronin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Powell's guard.

Cronin throwing strikes but missing.
Cronin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Powell working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cronin.

Powell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Powell lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Cronin looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Powell has picked Cronin up and slammed him! Cronin can't keep hold of the triangle and Powell manages to pass to side control!

Powell works to advance to full mount. Cronin defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Powell pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Powell content just to control the position here.
Cronin tries to hold on but Powell pushes him away.
Cronin takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Powell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Powell trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Powell looking to finish Cronin with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cronin!

Cronin is looking to get to half guard.
Cronin tries to lock up and control but Powell gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Powell controlling from mount.
Cronin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Powell controlling the position easily from mount.

Powell goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cronin turns into him and now he's in Powell's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trenton Powell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Powell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cronin tries to get to full guard but Powell has control of the leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Powell in particular looking to stall.

Powell is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cronin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cronin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Trenton Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cronin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Powell's guard.
Powell wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cronin manages to pass to side control.

Powell is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cronin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cronin's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Powell scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Powell tries to keep control of the position but Cronin is staying busy.

Cronin just trying to survive but Powell is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Powell is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Powell is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Cronin has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Powell takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Powell is looking for the choke from the back position but Cronin is controlling his hands well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Powell gets his hands free as Cronin looks to control.

Powell working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Powell is hanging on to Cronin's back as he tries to escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cronin tries to escape but Powell has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Trenton Powell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Powell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
