PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Hyabusa (ranked 3391 p4p, 364 weight class) and Vladimir Magosharipov (ranked 3910 p4p, 401 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Magosharipov's choice of entrance music: Jalandhar . The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryu Hyabusa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vladimir Magosharipov!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magosharipov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
As Magosharipov tries to get set, Hyabusa tries to push him back and clinch up but Magosharipov manages to avoid the attempt.
Vladimir Magosharipov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Magosharipov gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hyabusa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Magosharipov drags the fight down to the ground.
Magosharipov keeping full guard, as Hyabusa tries to pass.
Magosharipov pulls Hyabusa in close to his closed guard and prevents Hyabusa from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hyabusa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hyabusa looking to sit in guard and control but Magosharipov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hyabusa wants to control but Magosharipov passes into side.

Magosharipov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hyabusa tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Magosharipov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hyabusa is not content to let Magosharipov control the position.
Hyabusa tries to bench press Magosharipov off him but Magosharipov keeps the position.

Hyabusa is trying to control Magosharipov's posture but Magosharipov avoids it.
Magosharipov tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Magosharipov stands up and beckons Hyabusa to his feet.

Magosharipov gets caught napping as Hyabusa dives in and scores a takedown. Magosharipov manages to retain guard.

Hyabusa stands and throws Magosharipov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Hyabusa misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hyabusa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Magosharipov on the ground.

Hyabusa sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Magosharipov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Hyabusa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Magosharipov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Magosharipov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hyabusa connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Magosharipov scrambles back to his feet.

and Hyabusa counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Magosharipov tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hyabusa defends well and Magosharipov ends up having to push Hyabusa into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Magosharipov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hyabusa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Magosharipov is trying to pull guard but Hyabusa has him pressed against the cage.

Hyabusa gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Magosharipov has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hyabusa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Magosharipov walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Magosharipov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Magosharipov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Magosharipov is looking to take this one to the mat.
Magosharipov tries to pull guard but Hyabusa won't allow it.
Magosharipov takes an elbow to the forehead.
Hyabusa lands a nice uppercut.
Hyabusa is looking for a takedown.
Hyabusa lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Hyabusa scores with a shoulder strike.
Magosharipov is trying to force a seperation but Hyabusa has the dominant position.

Hyabusa lands a hook that snaps the head of Magosharipov backwards.
Hyabusa will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Magosharipov up against the cage.
Magosharipov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hyabusa to keep the fight standing.
Hyabusa lands with a short shot to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hyabusa gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Hyabusa scores with a big shot! Magosharipov's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Magosharipov! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryu Hyabusa!
After the big win, Ryu Hyabusa made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Arcticus University: London and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
Vladimir Magosharipov spoke after the fight, saying 'Hey i just wanna thank my opponent and his team'.
