Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Max Fury (ranked 4559 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dobby Lawson (ranked 4776 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fury throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lawson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lawson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Fury misses the target.
Lawson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fury.
Fury loads up on a big right hand but Lawson slips the punch.
Fury rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Lawson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fury wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Fury has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lawson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Fury.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lawson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lawson wants to control but Fury is keeping him busy.

Fury is trying to control Lawson's posture but Lawson avoids it.

Lawson won't allow Fury to sweep him here.

Fury manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lawson manages to get himself to full guard.

Fury wants to pass the guard but Lawson is keeping the position.

Fury engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Lawson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fury. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lawson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Fury throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fury is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fury's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fury has gone for a leg lock! Lawson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fury's guard.

Fury seems keen to control Lawson's posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fury is on top in guard.

Fury stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lawson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lawson can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fury is pushing down on Lawson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lawson is fighting to maintain full guard but Fury has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lawson tries to kick Fury off but Fury keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fury wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lawson, who protects the arm well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lawson wants to get back to his feet but Fury drags him back down.
Fury wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lawson keeps working.
Fury is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Lawson's shoulder. That is not cool.
Fury passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Lawson!

Lawson is controlling an arm, preventing Fury from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Fury has hold of Lawson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lawson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fury slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Fury has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Lawson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Fury is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lawson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Fury has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dobby Lawson.

Fury throws a lazy right hand but Lawson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Max Fury seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fury slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Fury bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lawson's guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fury, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
