Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fatu Masiwera (ranked 4694 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Dirk (ranked 3768 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masiwera throws a right hand that misses
and Dirk counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Fatu Masiwera has been cut.
Dirk throws a looping overhand right but Masiwera ducks down to avoid it.
Dirk connects with a body shot.
Masiwera tries to work over Dirk's front leg with a kick but Dirk checks it.
Dirk scores with a shot to the body.
Dirk lands a jab to Masiwera's midsection.
A low kick from Masiwera misses
and Dirk counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Masiwera definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dirk jabs Masiwera right on the nose. Masiwera blinks but takes it well.
Masiwera takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A low kick from Masiwera is predictable there
and Dirk counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dirk lands with an uppercut that bounces Masiwera off the cage and back into range.
Dirk throws out a loose jab but Masiwera uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dirk throws a hook but Masiwera blocks it.
Masiwera throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dirk has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Masiwera avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dirk ducks under a wild hook from Masiwera.
Dirk uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Masiwera.
Dirk swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Masiwera throws a series of punches but Dirk avoids them all with ease.

The fighters circling - Dirk throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Masiwera moves out of range of the strikes.
As Dirk backs away, Masiwera returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Masiwera takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Dirk connects with a good right hand that stumbles Masiwera. Masiwera circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Masiwera throws a lazy uppercut
and Dirk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dirk is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Masiwera had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

letting Dirk counter with a right hand.

Masiwera is rocked!

Dirk lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
