PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Erik Badass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pertti Sparraaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Erik Badass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pertti Sparraaja!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sparraaja shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Sparraaja goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Badass turns into him and now he's in Sparraaja's guard.

Sparraaja looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sparraaja had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Badass is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sparraaja Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Badass's back instead.
You can see the frustration on Badass's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Sparraaja is landing with strikes from the back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Badass looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Sparraaja loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Badass hold on?

Sparraaja looking to break Badass's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Badass remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Sparraaja will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Sparraaja is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Badass defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Badass rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Sparraaja is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Badass defends it well.
Sparraaja looks gassed!
Badass is looking to improve his position.
Badass has hold of Sparraaja's hands but Sparraaja slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Badass pushes Sparraaja off looking to stand but Sparraaja dives back in and keeps control.
Badass makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Badass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sparraaja stands and throws Badass's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sparraaja stands up and beckons Badass to his feet.
Jab by Badass.
Badass throws a half hearted mid kick.

Sparraaja looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Badass keeping full guard, as Sparraaja tries to pass.
Badass is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sparraaja is controlling him.
Sparraaja trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sparraaja prevents Badass from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Badass pushes Sparraaja off and gets back to his feet.
Sparraaja shoots in but no luck this time.
Sparraaja shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Badass as he avoids it easily.
Badass fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sparraaja.
A head kick lands from Badass that sends Sparraaja to the canvas. Sparraaja tries to scramble back to his feet but Badass brings him back down into side control.


It looks like Pertti Sparraaja has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Badass decides to stand back up. Badass steps back and let's Sparraaja get back to his feet.
Sparraaja takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Badass drops Sparraaja with a big left hand! Sparraaja is injured, injured bad! Badass jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Erik Badass!
