Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dallas Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ash Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dallas Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ash Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis misses the jab.
Davis throws the left hand but Thomas avoids the punch easily.
Thomas misses with a series of wild punches.
Thomas has a takedown stuffed.
Thomas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Davis.
Davis throws a series of strikes that have Thomas backpedaling.
Thomas darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


It looks like Dallas Davis has been cut.
Davis misses with a takedown attempt - Thomas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Thomas fails in his attempt to clinch.

Davis throws a shot from downtown. Thomas moves away and avoids it.
Davis fails to land with a series of punches.
Thomas misses with a combination
and Davis counters with a stiff right hand.
Horrible takedown by Thomas or perhaps it was just good defense by Davis which made him look bad.
Davis throws out a loose jab but Thomas uses good head movement to avoid it.

Thomas trying to control the action but Davis is working from the bottom.
Thomas might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Davis kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Thomas tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Davis is not content to let Thomas control the position.

Thomas goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Davis rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Thomas's guard! Nice work there by Davis!
Davis wants to stand but Thomas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Thomas wants to control the position but Davis says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Thomas wants to improve his position but Davis is controlling well.
Thomas tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Davis has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Davis wants to control the pace but Thomas is squirming around nicely.
Thomas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dallas Davis will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thomas doesn't manage to clinch there - Davis circles away.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davis as he avoids it easily.
Thomas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Davis tries to avoid it but Thomas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Davis to the ground. Davis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dallas Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ash Thomas.

enabling Davis to counter with a crisp jab.

and Davis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Davis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Davis drops Thomas with a right and a left! Davis comes rushing in but Thomas regains his composure and manages to keep Davis in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Davis forces his way into half guard.
Thomas is still in real trouble! Can Davis finish him?
Davis tries to pass the half guard into mount. Thomas knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Thomas seems to have recovered his senses.
Thomas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Davis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davis's back!
Even with his hooks in, Thomas manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Thomas is looking to control Davis but Davis is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Davis covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Thomas is trying to control but Davis is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Davis tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Davis suckers Thomas into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Davis is now in Thomas's guard!
Davis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Thomas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Thomas throws a push kick but Davis slaps the foot to one side.
Thomas wants to clinch up but Davis keeps it at a distance.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown. Davis tries to sprawl out of it but Thomas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Davis just misses with a punch to the body.
Thomas scores with a punch to the head.
Davis catches Thomas with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and Davis counters with a nice uppercut.
Davis misses with a wild body shot.
Davis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Davis is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Davis looks to land a right hand but Thomas moved out of range.
Davis pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Thomas throws a head kick that misses.
Dallas Davis is winning the standup battle so far.
Davis wants to land a leg kick but Thomas is out of range.
Davis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thomas.
Davis throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Thomas throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Davis ducks under a wild hook from Thomas.
Davis fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Thomas misses with a kick to the body.
Thomas wants to clinch up but Davis keeps it at a distance.
Thomas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Davis is fending him off so far but Thomas persists. Nope, Davis circles away and we're back to standing.

Thomas closes the distance and clinches up with Davis, looking for a takedown. Thomas pushes Davis against the cage but Davis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ash Thomas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Thomas throws a sloppy head kick and Davis moves out of range easily.
Thomas is looking to clinch.
Ash Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davis misses with a hook. Thomas ducked under it nicely.
Dallas Davis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Thomas on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Davis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Thomas thows a left - swing and a miss!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Davis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dallas Davis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Davis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
