Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David McDonald (ranked 4434 p4p, 444 weight class) and Ivar Lothbrok (ranked 3644 p4p, 394 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, David McDonald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivar Lothbrok!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lothbrok misses with a body punch
and McDonald counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McDonald connects with an inside leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from McDonald. Lothbrok does a little dance to reset his feet.

Lothbrok pushes McDonald up against the cage in a clinch.
McDonald lands a body shot.

McDonald gets control of Lothbrok's arms and successfully pulls guard. McDonald will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

McDonald has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lothbrok is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McDonald.
McDonald tries to buck Lothbrok off but Lothbrok is having none of it.
McDonald is trying to control Lothbrok's posture but Lothbrok avoids it.
McDonald tries to bench press Lothbrok off him but Lothbrok keeps the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDonald manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Lothbrok wants to take a breather but McDonald is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lothbrok is working for a kimura but McDonald is defending it quite comfortably.
Lothbrok wants to pass to mount but McDonald is defending the position.
Lothbrok trying to control the action but McDonald is working from the bottom.
McDonald is trying to get back to full guard.

McDonald looking for submissions off his back.
McDonald makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McDonald.

McDonald has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lothbrok can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McDonald is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

McDonald looking for a guillotine here but Lothbrok defends easily.

Lothbrok is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but McDonald has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Lothbrok is looking to defend but McDonald has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Lothbrok! McDonald pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Lothbrok taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). David McDonald!
David McDonald looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I been down... and I've been out... but I'm back, baby! New year, new life!'.
