The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mays stuffs the takedown.
Mays lands a left and a right that sends Veltorren crashing to the canvas! Mays dives into mount looking to finish!

It looks like Perlamo Veltorren has been cut.

Veltorren seems to have recovered his senses.

Mays is just content to waste time from the top position. Veltorren takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Veltorren is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Veltorren is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mays defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Veltorren thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Still in half guard, Veltorren seems content to control.
Mays is trying to get back to full guard.
Veltorren wants to control but Mays is keeping him busy.
Veltorren passes to full mount!
Veltorren throwing strikes here but Mays is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That was a close round but I would say that Virgil Mays will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mays moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Mays has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Veltorren is working away from the top position though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mays scores with a hook.
Mays scores with a hook to the body. Veltorren takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Mays bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Veltorren's head.
Mays throws a right hand that Veltorren ducks under and follows up with a left that Veltorren also avoids with ease.

Veltorren changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mays looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Veltorren is breathing heavily.
Mays takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Veltorren tries to score with some ground and pound. Mays controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Check out the look on Veltorren's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Veltorren creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mays sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Veltorren trying to control the action but Mays is working from the bottom.
Veltorren has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mays is trying to control Veltorren's posture but Veltorren avoids it.
Mays dodges the ground and pound from Veltorren.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mays connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Veltorren's hands.
Mays cracks Veltorren with a good jab.
Mays misses with a series of wild punches.
Mays stalks Veltorren and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Veltorren's face. Veltorren staggers backwards, shaken.
Mays lands a hook that stumbles Veltorren back into the cage. Mays follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Veltorren to the canvas! Mays pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Veltorren has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Virgil Mays!
