PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yoshihiro Nagasaki (ranked 2838 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chengiz Yilmaz (ranked 5865 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Chengiz Yilmaz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoshihiro Nagasaki !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chengiz Yilmaz!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yilmaz rushes Nagasaki and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Yilmaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Yilmaz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nagasaki to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Nagasaki trying to control but Yilmaz is working from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yilmaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nagasaki is working away from the top position though.

Yilmaz won't allow Nagasaki to pass to mount.
Nagasaki lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yilmaz can do anything to dispel that myth.
Nagasaki tries to pass to full mount but Yilmaz defends it.
Yilmaz is looking to improve his position.
Yilmaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nagasaki . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nagasaki is trying to control the action in half guard but Yilmaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Yilmaz is looking for a sweep. Nagasaki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Nagasaki decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Yilmaz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Yilmaz wants it to stay on the feet.
Yilmaz shoots in and drives through. Nagasaki sprawls well.

Nagasaki pushes Yilmaz up against the cage in a clinch.
Yilmaz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Yilmaz is taking a breather. Nagasaki says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Yilmaz throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Nagasaki to regain full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nagasaki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yilmaz is one step ahead there.
Yilmaz looking to sit in guard and control but Nagasaki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Yilmaz pushes Nagasaki up against the cage in a clinch.

Nagasaki ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Nagasaki no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Yilmaz is looking to stand up but Nagasaki won't let him.
Nagasaki thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Nagasaki pulls Yilmaz in to control the position.

Yilmaz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Nagasaki is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Nagasaki has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yilmaz has control of Nagasaki 's left arm, preventing Nagasaki from doing any damage.

Nagasaki 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nagasaki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Yilmaz defends it nicely.
Nagasaki tries to clinch there but Yilmaz circles away.

Some bone on bone action there as Nagasaki checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Nagasaki throws a sloppy head kick and Yilmaz moves out of range easily.

Nagasaki is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Yilmaz can do to turn this around?
Yilmaz is trying to drag Nagasaki to the mat but Nagasaki just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Nagasaki tries to pull guard but Yilmaz holds him up against the cage and eventually Nagasaki drops back down to his feet.

Nagasaki fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Yilmaz sprawls well initially but Nagasaki persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

You can see the frustration on Yilmaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nagasaki lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Nagasaki decides to stand up, so the ref orders Yilmaz to his feet.

Chengiz Yilmaz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nagasaki , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
