Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Honus Hampton!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wiik moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


It looks like Egil Wiik has been cut.
Honus Hampton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wiik closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hampton circles away.
Hampton throws a series of strikes that have Wiik backpedaling.

Hampton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hampton prevents Wiik from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hampton winds up and cracks Wiik with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Hampton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wiik went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Wiik sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Wiik is breathing heavily.

Hampton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hampton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Wiik shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hampton throws a counter combo.

Hampton shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wiik is trying to defend but Hampton finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wiik might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Let's hope that Hampton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hampton wants to work for an arm triangle but Wiik is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Wiik manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Hampton is trying to force a seperation but Wiik has the dominant position.

Hampton has picked Wiik up - he's going for a ride! Hampton dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wiik is refusing to be controlled, as Hampton sits in half guard.
Hampton tries to pass to full mount but Wiik defends it.
Hampton is nestled in close to Wiik, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hampton escapes and gets back to his feet.
Wiik really is a fat lump.

Hampton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Wiik!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hampton wants to take a breather but Wiik manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Hampton.
Hampton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wiik. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hampton drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wiik looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wiik looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wiik!


Wiik tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wiik has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hampton struggling a bit here.

Hampton is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Wiik looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Hampton sneaks out the side door and pushes Wiik away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Hampton shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Honus Hampton has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hampton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hampton stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Wiik to get to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hampton closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wiik to the mat! Wiik manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Honus Hampton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hampton is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hampton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wiik wants to sweep here but Hampton controlling him for the moment.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hampton tries to stand but can't do so whilst Wiik controls his leg.
Wiik is not content to let Hampton control the position.
Hampton is nestled in close to Wiik, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hampton wants to free his trapped foot but Wiik is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Honus Hampton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hampton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
