Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edward Newgate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kerry Jason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jason fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jason is looking to clinch but Newgate is avoiding it.
Jason tries for a takedown but Newgate sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Jason closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Newgate tries to improve position but can't.
Newgate is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Jason thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Newgate's head.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Jason looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Newgate wants to improve his position but Jason is controlling well.
Newgate knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jason on the ground.

Newgate is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Jason pulls his head out easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Newgate is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jason is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Edward Newgate overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Newgate is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jason knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Newgate seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jason for as long as he can get away with.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Newgate shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jason's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Newgate shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Newgate misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Newgate looking to secure an arm triangle but Jason defends it well.
Jason wants to hold on but Newgate pushes him away.
Jason is trying to escape the mount.
Poor strikes thrown by Newgate there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Newgate trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Newgate is going olschool here, as he tries to force Jason to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jason shrugs it off.
Newgate wants to control the pace but Jason is squirming around nicely.
Newgate can't control as he wanted to and Jason manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Jason has one foot on Newgate's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Jason lands a nice leg kick that just misses Newgate's sensitive parts.

and Newgate counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jason!
Newgate can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jason is looking to escape.
Newgate wants to take Jason's back here but Jason is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Kerry Jason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jason tries to lock up and control but Newgate gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
