Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vinh Dang Tieu (ranked 4921 p4p, 167 weight class) and Pwede Manalo (ranked 4996 p4p, 168 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pwede Manalo!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Manalo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Dang Tieu kicks Manalo off and gets back to his feet.
Manalo takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Dang Tieu gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Dang Tieu unloads a knee to the mid-section. Manalo lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

It looks like Pwede Manalo has been cut.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Dang Tieu wants to get back to his feet but Manalo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Manalo wants to pass the guard but Dang Tieu is keeping the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Manalo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dang Tieu dives on top into guard.

Manalo looking for a guillotine here but Dang Tieu defends easily.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dang Tieu moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dang Tieu is defending against the submission attempts here by Manalo.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Manalo seems to be looking for submissions.

Manalo wants to work for an arm triangle but Dang Tieu is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Dang Tieu pushes Manalo off but Manalo dives into side control.

Manalo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Manalo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Manalo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Manalo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dang Tieu has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Manalo but great work by Dang Tieu.

A lull in the action here.

Dang Tieu decides to stand up, so the ref orders Manalo to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Manalo.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Manalo fails with a takedown attempt.

Dang Tieu closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Dang Tieu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dang Tieu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Dang Tieu uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Manalo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dang Tieu's waist but Dang Tieu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Manalo off to one side.
Vinh Dang Tieu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pwede Manalo.
Manalo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pwede Manalo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dang Tieu closes the distance and clinches.
Dang Tieu landing knees to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Dang Tieu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Dang Tieu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A thudding body kick lands there by Dang Tieu!
No luck for Manalo with that takedown attempt.

Dang Tieu rushes Manalo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dang Tieu lands an elbow inside that Manalo shrugs off.

Dang Tieu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dang Tieu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Manalo can do to turn this around?

Dang Tieu closes the distance and clinches.

Dang Tieu has Manalo pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dang Tieu pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Manalo tumbling to the mat - Dang Tieu dives into Manalo's guard.
Dang Tieu wants to get up but he can't break Manalo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Manalo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dang Tieu trying to control but Manalo is working from the bottom.
Dang Tieu looking to sit in guard and control but Manalo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Manalo trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Dang Tieu manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!


Dang Tieu wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Manalo's closed guard. He's half up but Manalo has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Manalo pivots and extends the arm, Dang Tieu falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Manalo! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Pwede Manalo!
