Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ned Kelly (ranked 2512 p4p, 296 weight class) and Gurizuri Nakamura (ranked 23047 p4p, 534 weight class). Kelly comes to the cage accompanied by Vigilante. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ned Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gurizuri Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kelly sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nakamura somewhat.
Gurizuri Nakamura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Kelly. No joy for Nakamura on that attempt.

Nakamura shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kelly pinned against the cage. Kelly gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ned Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gurizuri Nakamura.

Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kelly as he avoids it easily.
It looked like Kelly wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Kelly jabs Nakamura to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Nakamura throws a body punch but Kelly moves out of range.
Nakamura takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kelly tests Nakamura's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kelly lands with a good body shot.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kelly, right into the meat.

Kelly quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Nakamura fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kelly manages to avoid it.
Kelly darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Kelly is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Nakamura is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kelly's half guard.

Nakamura wants to advance to full mount but Kelly doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Nakamura throws a chopping leg kick but Kelly manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Kelly scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Nakamura takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Nice sprawl there from Kelly as Nakamura shoots in.
Good leg kick by Kelly there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Kelly is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Nakamura shoots in and gets a takedown into Kelly's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kelly is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Nakamura won't allow Kelly to sweep him here.
Kelly wants to stand up but Nakamura is controlling him.
Nakamura not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Kelly is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nakamura wants to get back to full guard but Kelly has passed into side control.
Nakamura tries to bench press Kelly off him but Kelly keeps the position.
Kelly is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kelly wants to stand but Nakamura is controlling his arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Kelly dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nakamura darts in looking for a takedown but Kelly gets double underhooks and turns Nakamura into the cage.
Kelly throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nakamura.
A jab from Kelly finds it's way through Nakamura's defenses.
A bone on bone clash there as Kelly blocks the leg kick.
Nakamura misses with a takedown attempt - Kelly sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kelly throws out a powerful jab.
Nice uppercut there from Kelly.
Nakamura looks to score with a jab to the body but Kelly is just out of range.
Kelly swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Nakamura closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kelly circles away.
Ned Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gurizuri Nakamura.

Kelly slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

and Nakamura takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nakamura takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kelly lands with a cross.
Nakamura shoots for a double leg takedown but Kelly sprawls well. He's pushed Nakamura's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nakamura shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kelly counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nakamura takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nakamura is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kelly rather than just go for the knockout.
Nakamura dives in and grabs Kelly's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kelly pushes down on Nakamura's head and hops out.

Kelly dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Nakamura. That did some damage!
Kelly is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nakamura can do to turn this around?
Kelly lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Kelly punishes Nakamura's body with a nice straight punch.

Nakamura fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kelly to the ground. Nakamura is now in Kelly's guard.
Kelly is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Nakamura dives into side control.

Kelly wants to control but Nakamura postures up.

Kelly sneaks back into half guard.

Kelly is trying to get back to full guard.
Kelly has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nakamura is working away from the top position though.

Nakamura is taking a breather. Kelly says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kelly wants to control but Nakamura is keeping busy.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Nakamura fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nakamura just misses with a punch to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kelly.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nakamura shoots in and drives through. Kelly sprawls well.
Kelly cracks a nice hook into Nakamura's ribs.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kelly.
Kelly looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Nakamura moves forwards but Kelly connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Nakamura chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kelly can pounce on him.
Kelly lands with an uppercut that bounces Nakamura off the cage and back into range.
Kelly stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nakamura looks for a takedown but Kelly sprawls well.
Nakamura gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kelly fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Nakamura misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kelly scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Kelly sizes up Nakamura with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kelly throws a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Kelly dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Nakamura takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kelly stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kelly wants it to stay on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nakamura.
Kelly looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Nakamura perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Nakamura passes into side control, despite Kelly's attempt to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kelly tries to escape but Nakamura is in control.

Kelly seems a little lost for a moment, as Nakamura dominates the positioning.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
My spies in Crapollas Gym inform me that Nakamura has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Nakamura wants to take a breather but Kelly manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Nakamura.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kelly holds on and takes a little breather.
Kelly wants to get back to his feet but Nakamura is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kelly lands the left hand.
Nakamura has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Nakamura throws a solid leg kick but Kelly takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Nakamura.
Kelly works the jab nicely.
Nakamura misses with a takedown attempt - Kelly sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kelly cracks Nakamura with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Donk. Kelly catches Nakamura right on the button with a cross.
Nakamura fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
The crowd cheers as Kelly lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nakamura doesn't seem phased though.
Nakamura goes for a double leg but Kelly avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kelly continues to drive forward.

Nakamura takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nakamura misses with a low kick.
Nakamura throws a solid leg kick but Kelly takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Nakamura.
Kelly scores with a jab.
Nakamura throws a leg kick but Kelly sees it coming and checks it nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ned Kelly showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kelly, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
