PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Suman Giovanni (ranked 5182 p4p, 115 weight class) and Ittai Amram (ranked 5179 p4p, 114 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Suman Giovanni has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Suman Giovanni seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Giovanni clinches up with Amram and pushes him back against the cage.

Amram pulls guard successfully.
Amram is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Giovanni could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Amram stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Giovanni swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amram is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Giovanni defends well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Amram misses with a takedown attempt - Giovanni sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Amram postures up in Giovanni's guard and throws a big left but Giovanni blocks it.

That was a close round but I would say that Suman Giovanni will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Amram tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Giovanni manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Amram shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Giovanni pinned against the cage. Giovanni gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Amram wants to get back to striking at distance but Giovanni won't allow it.

Giovanni has hold of one of Amram's legs. Amram is fighting the takedown attempt but Giovanni gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Amram wriggles free and stands up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Amram on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Giovanni gets control of Amram's arms and successfully pulls guard. Giovanni will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Giovanni is on top in guard.

Giovanni got a little sloppy there for a moment and Amram has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Giovanni has managed to get both his arms back between Amram's legs - danger averted.

Giovanni is stalling here. Amram is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Giovanni seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Amram has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Amram is just content to waste time from the top position. Giovanni takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Amram would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Amram throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Giovanni's waist but Giovanni gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Amram off to one side.

Giovanni shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Giovanni showed some decent athleticism there.

Giovanni is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Amram is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
