The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pattonson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jones on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pattonson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pattonson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Pattonson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.
Pattonson wants to stand but Jones is controlling his arm.
Jones tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pattonson has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.

Pattonson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Pattonson closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage.
Pattonson is trying to pull guard but Jones turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Jones manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Jones bucks up and tries to throw Pattonson off but instead Pattonson has got his back!

Pattonson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pattonson's waist but Pattonson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.

Jones is looking to control Pattonson's arms but Pattonson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jones has his back to the cage.

Jones is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pattonson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jones to the mat. Jones regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
