The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taurus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Garrett has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Garrett sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Garrett tries to close the distance and clinch up but Taurus swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Taurus throws out a loose jab but Garrett uses good head movement to avoid it.
A little feinted left hand from Garrett on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Taurus avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Taurus keeps the fight on the outside.
Taurus lands a glancing blow to the side of Garrett's head.

It looks like Craig Garrett has been cut.
Taurus throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Taurus jabs Garrett to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Taurus pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Taurus steps into range and cracks Garrett with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Garrett flops backwards and Taurus dives into his guard looking to finish!

Taurus would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Garrett wants to stand up but Taurus is controlling him.
Taurus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Taurus's coach down at Desert Fitness & Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Taurus's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Taurus connects with a right hand. Garrett shakes it off.
Garrett has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Taurus finds it's way round the side to connect with Garrett's head.
Garrett shoots in for a takedown but Taurus shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Taurus looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Taurus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Taurus clobbers Garrett with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Garrett moves in looking to clinch but Taurus pushes him off.
Garrett slips under a jab from Taurus.
Taurus throws a hook to the side of Garrett's head but Garrett sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Taurus bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Garrett! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Garrett is rocked!

Craig Garrett's cut is getting worse.
Taurus has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Garrett is proving hard to escape from.
Oh Garrett is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Garrett seems to have got his legs back now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garrett has control of Taurus's left arm, preventing Taurus from doing any damage.

Garrett lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Garrett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Taurus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Taurus connects with a leg kick. Garrett looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Taurus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Garrett was well out of range. Poor timing from Taurus.
Taurus throws a lazy right hand but Garrett sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Garrett connects with a body shot that sends Taurus's belly button to the back.
Taurus is looking to land body kicks.
Garrett throws a quick counter kick to the body but Taurus avoids it.
Garrett has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Taurus finds it's way round the side to connect with Garrett's head.

Garrett clinches up with Taurus and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Taurus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Garrett lands with a nice combination. Taurus backs away looking to recover.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A nice inside leg kick there by Taurus. That's going to slow Garrett down.
Garrett doesn't manage to clinch there - Taurus circles away.

Taurus works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Garrett shoots and misses
and Taurus counters with a huge left! Garrett is in big trouble! He's backing up but Taurus isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Garrett from any more damage. A dominating finish by Taurus!
