PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Capt Sully (ranked 2539 p4p, 242 weight class) and Corey Baird (ranked 1988 p4p, 201 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Capt Sully!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Corey Baird!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Baird misses its intended target.
Baird fails with an attempt to clinch.

Sully rushes Baird and presses him up against the cage.
Sully blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Sully blocks a body shot from Baird.
Baird lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Baird misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Sully blocks an uppercut.
Sully blocking some punches.

Sully manages to break the clinch.

Sully decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Baird kicks off Sully and gets to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sully looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Baird moves into the clinch.
Baird tries a body shot but Sully blocks it.
Sully definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Sully prevents a body shot from Baird.
Sully is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Baird misses with a punch on the inside.
Sully blocking some punches.

Sully breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sully blocks a head kick by Baird.
A slapping leg kick lands for Sully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baird keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Baird gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sully to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Baird pushes Sully off and scrambles back to his feet.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Baird!
Sully walks into a straight right hand from Baird.
Baird fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sully is out of range.
Baird throws a head kick but Sully moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Baird blocks a leg kick.
Sully closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Baird jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
A jab from Baird does it's job there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Baird.
Sully stalks Baird and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Baird's face. Baird staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Corey Baird has been cut.
Sully lands with a big left! Baird is wobbled badly! Sully comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Baird to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Capt Sully!
