PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jarod Pilc (ranked 4869 p4p, 458 weight class) and Jerome Henry (ranked 23169 p4p, 559 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Pilc breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Henry misses with a shot to the body
and Pilc counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Pilc keeps the fight on the outside.
Henry avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
A little jabbing left from Henry on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Henry fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pilc avoids it really well and circles away.
Pilc throws a quick counter head kick but Henry was just out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pilc dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Henry gets tackled into the cage by Pilc. Pilc maintains the clinch.

Pilc ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pilc no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Henry looking to sit in guard and control but Pilc gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Henry looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pilc has picked Henry up and slammed him! Henry can't keep hold of the triangle and Pilc manages to pass to side control!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Pilc gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Pilc tries to close the distance and clinch up but Henry swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pilc throws a sloppy head kick and Henry moves out of range easily.

As Henry tries to get set, Pilc tries to push him back and clinch up but Henry manages to avoid the attempt.
No joy there for Henry , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Henry moves in looking to clinch but Pilc pushes him off.
Henry shoots in but Pilc avoids the takedown attempt easily.
It looked like Pilc was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Henry .
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Pilc rushes Henry and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Henry jumps guard but Pilc stands there with Henry around his waist. Henry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Henry rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pilc moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Pilc uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Henry has time to react.
Pilc is looking to wear down Henry with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Pilc gets caught napping as Henry dives in and scores a takedown. Pilc manages to retain guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jerome Henry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pilc takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Pilc tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Henry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Henry closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Henry lands in his opponent's guard.

A looping hook to the body misses from Pilc. Henry does a little dance to reset his feet.

Henry darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Pilc manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Henry keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Henry shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pilc manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Henry is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Pilc has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

A very excited looking Jarod Pilc rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
