The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathew tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nguyen swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mathew keeps Nguyen at a distance using the push kick.
Mathew misses with a leg kick.

Nguyen clinches.
Nguyen slows down the pace here.
Nguyen prevents a takedown attempt there.
Nguyen is pressed up against the cage. Mathew has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nguyen down to the mat. Nguyen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Nguyen closes the distance and clinches.
Mathew drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nguyen pulls his leg out and moves away.
Adam Nguyen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Mathew.

Nguyen has closed the distance and engaged Mathew in a clinch.
Mathew is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nguyen pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Mathew tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nguyen just stands there and leans against the cage.

Nguyen landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Nguyen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Adam Nguyen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mathew takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Nguyen goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Justin Mathew has been cut.

Nguyen manages to break the clinch.
Mathew's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Nguyen connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mathew scrambles back to his feet.
Mathew seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Nguyen shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Mathew is backing up but Nguyen catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Mathew covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Nguyen Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
