Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Highlander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pidde nilsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Highlander has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Highlander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Highlander fakes high and swings low for a body shot but nilsson manages to avoid it.
Highlander changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. nilsson tries to avoid it but Highlander manages to keep hold of a leg and drag nilsson to the ground. nilsson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
nilsson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Highlander as he jumps to the side.
Highlander fails with the takedown

and nilsson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Highlander won't be happy with that.
Highlander tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but nilsson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
nilsson is looking to take a break and control but Highlander is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Highlander tries to escape but nilsson is in control.
Highlander is breathing heavily.

nilsson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Highlander misses with a takedown

and nilsson counters by clinching up.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scott Highlander. That's going to take a lot out of him.
nilsson lands a body shot in the clinch.

nilsson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

nilsson rushes Highlander and presses him up against the cage.
Highlander is working for takedown but nilsson is calmly controlling the position for now.

nilsson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Highlander uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

nilsson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Highlander is trying to reverse the position but instead nilsson has taken his back - oops!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - nilsson's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Highlander is in bad spot here.
Highlander is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Highlander covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
