Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dean Maynard (ranked 6223 p4p, 476 weight class) and Ryan Daigle (ranked 23957 p4p, 492 weight class). Dean Maynard has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daigle tries to close the distance and clinch but Maynard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Daigle's coach down at Crapollas Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Daigle's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

and Daigle counters with a single leg into guard. Maynard didn't expect that.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Maynard manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Maynard reaches up to try and control the position but Daigle seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Maynard rolls and tries to escape and now Daigle has his back!

Maynard breaks Daigle's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Maynard had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Daigle defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daigle throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Maynard works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Daigle not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Maynard controls Daigle momentarily but Daigle frees himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

It looks like Daigle might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maynard wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Daigle.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
