PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yusuke Hurameshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Kung Fu Fighting. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yusuke Hurameshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Lee!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee misses with a takedown attempt - Hurameshi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hurameshi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hurameshi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lee has Hurameshi in his guard.

Lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hurameshi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hurameshi tries to stand but Lee is controlling from the bottom.
Hurameshi wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.

Hurameshi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Lee escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hurameshi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hurameshi.
Hurameshi looking to pass the guard.
Lee keeping moving, preventing Hurameshi from controlling successfully.
Hurameshi trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Hurameshi stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lee shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hurameshi pinned against the cage. Hurameshi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lee looks gassed!
Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hurameshi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Lee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hurameshi to the mat! Hurameshi manages to get full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hurameshi looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hurameshi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hurameshi wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.

Hurameshi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Lee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Lee drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hurameshi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hurameshi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hurameshi!

Hurameshi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee manages to get back to half guard.
Lee is refusing to be controlled, as Hurameshi sits in half guard.

Hurameshi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lee looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hurameshi is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lee is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hurameshi pulls his head out easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hurameshi in particular looking to stall.
Hurameshi tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Lee.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hurameshi shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense.

Lee decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hurameshi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Hurameshi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lee content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hurameshi working for a triangle but Lee defends it easily.
Hurameshi will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Lee dominated that round.
That's time! Hurameshi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Lee shoots for a takedown but Hurameshi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Lee avoids the head kick by Hurameshi.

Hurameshi moves into the clinch.
Hurameshi fails to pull guard.
Hurameshi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lee smiles and moves away.
Hurameshi is looking to clinch but Lee is avoiding it.

Hurameshi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lee gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Lee regains full guard. Nicely done.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hurameshi drops back looking for a leg! Lee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lee manages to kick Hurameshi off! Hurameshi jumps back into Lee's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lee looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Hurameshi is defending well. Lee quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Hurameshi has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Lee celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Lee!
