PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angus McButticutty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Crudd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McButticutty kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Queen and David Bowie - Under Pressure. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Angus McButticutty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Crudd!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McButticutty takes a swing at Crudd's ribcage but misses.
Crudd moves out of range of the leg kick from McButticutty.
Crudd waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract McButticutty.
Nice defenses there by McButticutty.
McButticutty misses with a hook. Crudd ducked under it nicely.
Marcus Crudd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McButticutty walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McButticutty throws a head kick that misses.
Crudd shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A combination from McButticutty does no damage.
McButticutty swings for the body but Crudd moves out of range.
Crudd lands with a cross.
McButticutty misses with a wild body shot.
McButticutty slips under a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crudd paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by McButticutty.
Crudd misses with a double jab
and McButticutty counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Crudd checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Crudd lands with a nice body kick.
Crudd looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McButticutty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McButticutty throws a jab when Crudd was well out of range.
Crudd checks a leg kick nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crudd pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McButticutty thows a left - swing and a miss!
McButticutty gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Crudd tries to bum rush McButticutty with a series of wild strikes but McButticutty uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
McButticutty slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McButticutty drops Crudd with a right and a left! McButticutty comes rushing in but Crudd regains his composure and manages to keep McButticutty in guard.


It looks like Marcus Crudd has been cut.
Crudd has a closed guard, preventing McButticutty from standing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McButticutty stopping the sweep attempt from Crudd.
Crudd looking to control.
Crudd lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McButticutty!
McButticutty's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Crudd controlling from mount.
McButticutty is working to get back to half guard.
Crudd takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McButticutty wants to control but Crudd is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Marcus Crudd will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Marcus Crudd's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Marcus Crudd seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Crudd swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McButticutty counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Crudd scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
McButticutty tries a head kick but it misses.
McButticutty throws a leg kick
and Crudd counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Crudd looks to land a combination. McButticutty sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Crudd takes a swing at McButticutty's ribcage but misses.
McButticutty moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Crudd goes down! Can McButticutty finish him!?


Crudd is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Crudd is looking for a triangle here but McButticutty uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Crudd is still in real trouble! Can McButticutty finish him?
Crudd is breathing heavily.
McButticutty controlling from side mount.
Crudd seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McButticutty tries to stand but Crudd is controlling his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McButticutty looking to control but instead Crudd has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
McButticutty controlling the action here.
Crudd trying to control but McButticutty postures up.
McButticutty wants to stand up but Crudd has a hold of him and won't allow it.

McButticutty thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McButticutty working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Crudd's thigh. Crudd counters though and makes it back to full guard.
McButticutty has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Crudd pulls McButticutty in to control the position.
McButticutty not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
McButticutty scoring with some ground and pound.
Crudd wants to sweep here but McButticutty controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Marcus Crudd's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McButticutty avoids the body shot from Crudd.
McButticutty stuns Crudd with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Crudd takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Crudd ducks right into an uppercut from McButticutty.

McButticutty lands with a right and another and another! Crudd is in big trouble! McButticutty lands again and this time it's lights out for Crudd! A quality knockout there for McButticutty.
