PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dixon Ulster (ranked 1511 p4p, 0 weight class) and Moe Richardson (ranked 1564 p4p, 0 weight class). Ulster comes to the cage accompanied by Alternative Ulster/ Stiff Little Fingers. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dixon Ulster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Moe Richardson !
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ulster is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Richardson tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Ulster's jab looks to have found its range, popping Richardson under the eye.
Richardson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ulster defends it nicely.
Richardson takes one on the button.

Richardson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ulster tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Richardson is in Ulster's guard.
Ulster is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ulster working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Richardson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Richardson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Richardson throws a nice looking combination but Ulster bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Ulster throws a right hand that Richardson ducks under and follows up with a left that Richardson also avoids with ease.

Richardson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ulster quickly recovers to half guard.

Ulster has one foot on Richardson 's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Ulster stuffs the takedown attempt from Richardson . Richardson gets slowly back to his feet.
Dixon Ulster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ulster moves into range and connects with a jab.

Ulster scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Ulster fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Richardson , pushing him back against the cage.

Ulster escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Richardson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ulster looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ulster manages to work his way to half guard, despite Richardson 's best efforts.
Richardson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ulster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ulster tries to roll over but Richardson keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richardson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ulster has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Richardson has managed to get both his arms back between Ulster's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Richardson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ulster but Ulster pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ulster is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Richardson can do to turn this around?

Richardson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Richardson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Ulster scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Ulster throws a sloppy head kick and Richardson moves out of range easily.
Ulster pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Richardson back to the cage. Ulster follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Ulster lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Richardson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ulster finds it's way round the side to connect with Richardson 's head.
Dixon Ulster is winning the standup battle so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ulster feints and then cracks Richardson 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Richardson down.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Ulster throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Richardson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ulster sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Richardson 's guard.
Richardson is looking for a sweep. Ulster is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dixon Ulster is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Dixon Ulster overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ulster takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Richardson is trying desperately to improve position.
Richardson is controlling an arm, preventing Ulster from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Moe Richardson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Ulster is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Richardson 's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Richardson 's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Well Ulster has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
