Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Gilms (ranked 2328 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Boaler (ranked 1386 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonathan Boaler is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonathan Boaler!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boaler shoots for a takedown but Gilms saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Gilms swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Boaler shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gilms counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Boaler changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gilms tries to avoid it but Boaler manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gilms to the ground. Gilms escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gregory Gilms has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Boaler.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gilms working hard to break the clinch.
Gilms is looking to break free of the clinch but Boaler has double underhooks.
A nice right hand lands inside from Gilms.

Boaler gets control of Gilms's arms and successfully pulls guard. Boaler will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gilms trying to control but Boaler is working from the bottom.

Boaler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gilms gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gilms got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boaler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gilms has managed to get both his arms back between Boaler's legs - danger averted.

Gilms wants to pass the guard but Boaler is keeping the position.

Boaler throws his legs up looking for a submission but Gilms uses it to pass to side control.
Boaler tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Boaler is trying to work for a sweep but Gilms has mounted him!
Gilms controlling the position easily from mount.
Gilms prevents Boaler from getting the reversal.

Boaler is squirming around, avoiding Gilms's attempts to control the action.
Boaler is wriggling around trying to escape.
Boaler manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Boaler wants to control but Gilms is keeping busy.
Gilms prevents Boaler from improving his position.
Gilms tries to stand but can't do so whilst Boaler controls his leg.
Boaler has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Island Sparring. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Gilms knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boaler on the ground.

Gilms is pressing down on Boaler's thigh, looking to free his foot. Boaler is holding on for now.
Boaler wants to improve his position but Gilms is controlling well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
