Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wandell Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smasher McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Original Techno Viking. Wandell Griffin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin cracks McGee with a big right hand and McGee goes down!


It looks like Smasher McGee has been cut.
McGee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Griffin is controlling him.
Griffin wants to pass the guard but McGee is keeping the position.
Griffin wants to control from the top but McGee keeps moving.
McGee not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McGee keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.
Griffin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Griffin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McGee is proving hard to escape from.

McGee looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Griffin puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Griffin passes the guard and advances to mount!

Griffin jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McGee is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McGee and Griffin has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Griffin is trying to get an arm triangle but McGee is defending well.

Griffin tries for a kimura but McGee is defending well.

McGee stops Griffin from passing to mount.

McGee dodges the ground and pound from Griffin.

McGee pushes Griffin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Griffin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Griffin sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but McGee is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A nice leg kick lands there from Griffin.
McGee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Griffin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McGee throws a combination. Griffin tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Wandell Griffin has been cut.
McGee looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Griffin throws a left that rocks McGee and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Griffin dives into side control, looking to finish! Can McGee regain composure!

Griffin swings around for an armbar but McGee sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Griffin's guard.
Griffin wants to sweep here but McGee controlling him for the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Griffin is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Griffin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McGee's guard.
McGee has hold of Griffin's hands but Griffin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGee can do anything to dispel that myth.

Griffin is trying to work for a kimura but McGee is defending well.
Griffin controlling the action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wandell Griffin dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Griffin tries a head kick but it misses.
McGee doesn't manage to clinch there - Griffin circles away.
McGee falls off balance throwing a combination

and Griffin counters with a head kick that drops McGee!

McGee looking to control but Griffin passes into half guard.

McGee slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Griffin trying to control but McGee is working from the bottom.

McGee controls Griffin momentarily but Griffin frees himself.

Griffin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McGee is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McGee has escaped and now he's on top!
Griffin wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Griffin trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
McGee with a nice head shot there.

Griffin is working an open guard so McGee takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Griffin thumps McGee with a low kick.
McGee is breathing heavily.
McGee darts in trying to clinch

and McGee is countered with a crisp right hand from Griffin that sends him to the canvas! Griffin follows him to the mat into side control.


That has opened up Smasher McGee's cut even more.
Griffin wants to control for a moment but McGee uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Griffin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McGee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McGee's back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Griffin misses with a punch to the head.
McGee avoids the strikes from Griffin.
Griffin struggling to keep hold of the position.
Griffin looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Griffin keeps control of the position as McGee tries to break free.
Griffin is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Griffin lands shots from the back.

McGee breaks Griffin's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
McGee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McGee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

McGee tries to clinch up
and Griffin counters with a head kick that wobbles McGee - left then right he sways and one more bomb from Griffin sends him down. This one is all over!
